Title is a deliberate mispelling.

My main sewer line from my house to the septic was plugged. I had tried using a household drain snake but it was too weak to cut thru the grease plugs. I then inserted a garden house with a nozzle and that didn't work, although it was a temporary fix two weeks ago.

So I broke down and rented a power auger from the local hardware store. Yippee, I fixed the problem and sewage is once again flowing into the septic tank.

Loaded up the power auger and on the way to the hardware store the auger slipped loose, slid up the truck bed and broke the rear window of my truck!! Estimate is $280.00 to replace window. With the help of my wife, I duct taped some plastic to the broken window opening.

All this to save on a plumber to open my drain line. When it rains, it poors on poor old Tyme.

Sorry about your luck, sounds like we have a lot in common. I do one thing myself to save money, and something else happens twice as expensive. Heck, by the time I get this outdrive I need, I will have almost doubled the cost of the boat that was in "great working order" when I bought it.

Sorry about your bad luck, however it could have been worse you know !!! at least it wasn't a $1000 accident and you did not get injured.

I had Murphys law hit me awhile back. I poured a concrete slab for a shed. Rented a nice bull float to do the job. Finished the job, loaded up the poles and float and headed back to the rental place. By the time I got there, all that was in the back of the truck was the poles but no float. What was to be only a $15 rental turned out to a $95 replacement fee.

It is no fun going through Murphys Law with a bout of the Dominio Effect to go with it. :D

Yep - a few years ago I rented a lawn aerator. On the way back to the rental shop, the aerator slid in the back of the truck and broke out one of the windows on the camper top.

UUugghh..

I couldn't ever find a replacement so I cut one out of plexiglass. It's not perfect, but neither is the truck. :)

Oh yeah - now I tie everything down twice as well.

Re: When it rains, it poors.

I have a problem with my septic....the overflow from the tank goes 20m to a small concrete box....and from that a further pipe takes it to the evaporation trenches.....well it ain't going down that pipe from the box....so guess it is blocked.....and would guess it is tree roots.

It is overflowing from the box, (on a slight hill) so got my trustee workers to dig a wide trench off to the side of the box, so it would go in that direction and evaporate. They did a great job, long wide trench lined with weed mat, barrowed in about 10 tons of gravel, and sealed it all up, and when I went to inspect it, it is above the box.....

Now I am not sure what I am going to do....and I am sort of going to have to do something soon.

Cheers
Phillip

Sure does sucks, especially when you gave women more reason to think we're irrational even though they're much worse. BTW, I do recognize that crest on your sig.

Re: When it rains, it poors.

T2F....not sure if you saved me a packet, or cost me $66.

2 hrs back the daughter rings....SIL has broken down 1.5 miles from me.....in my Nissan 1 tonner....on a main road. (real busy).

I twaddle off to see what's up.....won't start....battery clamp split....not sure of anything.

He asks if I have a tow rope or chain etc, and then "bang", I remember this thread....so I tell him "no, I'll get a tow truck", and as he has lost his job, and doing casual work for me, I could see his face 'fall', so had to add quickly, I'd pick up the bill.

Nissan is now home, so is SIL, nothing has been damaged, so I am hoping it is a better outcome for having read your post.

Cheers

Phillip, sorry I cost you $66.00 but then again I might have saved you a window replacement.:)

I'm glad this thread may save someone from trying to save a few bucks only to cost bigger bucks in the end.

Note to all: Secure that load and be careful and prudent.

As I was reading this thread I noticed people saying about luck and murphy's law and none of these incidents have anything to do with luck. Stuff moving around in the back of your truck is your clear fault. Tie your stuff down. I saw a fellow a few months ago buy a new Quad he loaded into the back of his truck. Paid big bucks for aluminum ramps and not a dime on tie downs. He was parked in the lot at princess auto with new ratchet straps in his hand and a blown out rear window. He said he thought the parking brake would hold it.

NoKlu, I accepted full responsibility for my stupidity. No excuse and dumb on my part.

Tyme2fish's new law: If it's in the bed of my truck, it will be lashed down properly.

When Murphey Supervises.

Pulled out a small box elder tree with the 4x4.

Two tail light lenses, one rear window, and a jerk strap.

Oh well, power costs money.

Did you replace the window yet? Auto wreckers are a great place to get rear windows or a slider at a good price. The fellow with the quad said he was going straight to pick your part after I mentioned it to him but he had an older truck and for sure would find one there cheap.

I took the truck to a local collission center where I have had work done before. Took it in at 11:30 AM and picked it up at 4:00 PM the same day.
$232.00 and they washed the entire truck and swept out all the glass.
