1984 17ft Carlson Glastron ski boat

i just got this boat and I am also new to boating. It has a 140HP Evenrude motor and I seem to be having some problems. When the motor is all the way trimmed down the motor will pull back up when in reverse and push completely forward when going forward. Does anyone have any ideas what is wrong?

Hi there , Welcome this might need to be posted in the rude forum !!but I might just be able to help , there is an bar that slides in the motor mount that locks the motor to the mount !! when you lift the motor is there a couple hooks there??? John

sounds like the relief screw is open on the tilt. or you have a bad tilt unit.

this is the tilt/trim I am working with. when I accelerate the two pistons will not hold the pressure from the motor causing the motor to angle down, also when in reverse the engine pulls up. I have been told about the relief screw not being tightened but I have no idea where that is. If it is not the relief screw is it just a bad unit?
