Ok so I read the other wonderful post with all the directions but my question is when we mated the lower unit to the rest of the motor it was difficult to push in the last 1/4 inch. We ended up starting all the bolts and slowly snugging the thing up. Is this standard? or should the thing have gone together with out doing this?

Any help would be great. I think we are gonna try to run it tomorrow so if I've messed something up tell me now!

Thanks

Re: 90hp 1990 model Force Impeller replacement.

Most slip all the way up with no problems.

However: If you put too much anti-seize on the crankshaft splines, you will get a hydraulic lock as it tries to compress the air trapped in the crank end and squeeze out the excess anti seize or grease.

If the water tube is tight in the adapter, it will also cause difficulty in pushing up the lower unit.

If your 1990 has locating pins like the Mercury lowers, this will also make it difficult to get the last 1/4 inch or so up. That's pretty typical for regular Mercs.
