Year of mercury?

i just got a boat and everything i need for it for 250 bucks. its a project boat...well first of i need the year of the motor and i cant seem to figure it out. i was told that if i could post hte serial number here someone should be able to tell me. its a 50hp mercury and the serial number is 2950825. If anyone could help me out i would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

this is a pic of it. on the middle of the back and front it says 500 also
