I have a 1974 115HP outboard that after being ran all day
has a blackish colored oil weepin out what im assuming to
be weep holes on the underneath side of the cavitation plate.
This was not there prior to running the motor.

This is the first time it was taken out this season and i had the
gearcase fluid changed in the winter.

Any suggestions on what this may be or could it
be overfill weeping out? I just dont want to take any chances
on damaging the lower end.

Thanks for the feedback That is what i was thinking. Is there a direct cause of this i.e. mixture raito to thick (I am currently running 50:1)?

Is this something to be concerned with or is it typical
of an engine of this age? As this is the first time this
has happened in 4 complete seasons of running the motor.

The residual oil will be especially heavy if the engine was properly fogged as part of the winterization.

Thanks for all the feedback. Im sure i will
have more questions in the future on this motor
as it is circa 1974 never re-built top or bottom
and is bound to have mechanical problems from
time to time
