I have a 1991 Yamaha 115 TLRP outboard on a boston whaler outrage 17.
I have replaced fuel pump, water fuel sep. filter, and fuel lines. Mixing gas/oil 50:1. And replaced with new NGK plugs. Clean carbs myself with out messing with float or needles.

Motor was running well few weeks ago. Now take few cranks to start. When running it runs well for 20-30 mins and then sputters and shuts off.

What should i do? Get carbs cleaned or rebuilt? Any suggestion?

Re: Yamaha 1991 115LRP problems

Motor has been sitting for a month, I did use Startron in fuel tank-stablizer. Never had it winterized cause in Fl. Every time I put new fuel in tank motor run crappy then starts to get better as it is being ran. Mixing 50:1 ratio as well with yamalube.

Any other suggestions??

Re: Yamaha 1991 115LRP problems

I would check the Fuel vent for a clog; check for all gas lines/inlets/filters and Fuel pump for vacumn leaks;Anti syphon valve on tank could also be sticking? (Does the bulb get hard? If you squeeze it, does it stay deflated? I would try running on a portable tank to see if it repeats; I would verify that the fuel inlet/pickup in tank is clean, Remove and dump the water separator in a clear container. (if full of water, I would clean tank). If running on portable tank repeats problem, look at all fuel line connections, maybe a slipped gasket on the fuel pump install? and then do another carb cleaning....
