Hi Guys

I Just Bought A Boat Last Week And I Could Not Start The Motor For Nothing. I Know To Know What You Guys Think About It.

- The Boat Is A 1987 Imperial 19 1/2 Ft.
- The Motor Is A Volvo Penta O/i Aq131a With 275 Outdrive.

The Motor Turn Free And Get Sparks At The Plugs, Plugs Are Getting Soaked With Gas And The Motor Does Not Start. I Try Put A Little Starting Fluid At Carburetor But Nothing.i Already Changed The Point, Condeser, Rotor, Ign. Cap, Ign. Wires, Plugs.i Do Not Know What To Do Next.

Any Help Will Be Appreciated.

did you set the gap/dwell of points correctly? have you checked timing? checked all wiring connections, checked for voltage at coil? put another set of plugs in, as even new plugs will foul if too much gas soaks into them.

The point gap, when opened by one of the four lobes on the distributer, should be .016", measured with a feeler guage.

Turn the engine until one of the lobes is directly under the spot where it contacts the points, loosen the adjusting screw just enough to allow the points to move, open the gap between the points to .016.

If you've never done it, perhaps finding someone to help, at least the first time, would be much quicker. It only takes a minute.:)

Good luck.
