I have my 1989 bayliner with the dreaded 125 hp force l-drive engine in for a stater replacement. When the mechanic took off the flywheel it was discovered the magnet band on the inside was no attached. A few boaters on the forum have mentioned glueing the magnets to the flywheel. The dealer will not do this, the mechanic does not want to be held responsible for the magnet band coming off and wrecking the new stater. Has anyone had success or problems with gluing the magnets back on? Or does anyone know where I could purchase a new or used flywheel? Pleaase help! My boat went into the dealer on June 9th, with plugs that fouled up easily, but it ran ok. The service man said a tune up with a hotter plugs may solve the problem. They called and said the mechanic found some loose wires and he would call tomorrow and let me know when I could pick it up. Then he called the next day and said the stater needed to be replaced. Then he called a week later and said the flywheel needed to be replaced, because the magnet strip inside the fywheel was loose.
