That appears to be "ethanol phase seperation" Need to drain and clean the tank, hoses, lines, carb.

Why is it that when we are surprised and "find something" is it usually a bad thing? Why not pearls or diamonds, or someone tried to hide 100 dollar bills in here?

How big is the tank, and how hard to get to?

62 gallons and I can get to the end of it with the sender and fittings but taking it out will require engine removal and some cutting of the deck. but I can put a 30 gallon tank on top of it if needed.

Re: So I starteed pumping out my gas tank.... Look what I found

I have a 62 gal. as well, but if I had to pull it, I have the room. I had a problem when I started this restore project. The old fuel fill hose had disintegrated and all of the "crumbs" went into the tank. I can't tell you all of the havoc that wreaked.

ANYWAY, I set up an electric fuel pump, but I mounted a heating oil strainer and a 100 micron filter inline with it. I drained the tank down, but not empty. Then I pulled through the sending unit hole, through strainer/ filter and dumped back through fill neck. I let it circulate almost all day, untill I wasn't getting any more debris. I kept moving my suction hose around in the tank like a shop vac.

Maybe this would work for you, substituting a seperator for the filter rig?
