I have a 1978 115 Johnson. I installed a fuel filter its the glass tube type with a filter. When I pump the ball for fuel to the engine there is air in the site glass along with gas. Its never completely full of fuel even when its running. Is this normal or not ?

Re: fuel question

yes normal........ especially while running it will have a air pocket.

the best advice i can give you about filters is: throw that inline in the trash and get you a water/fuel seperator . it will save you some headaches in the long run........ ive been sittin on the water with water in my fuel, and it wouldnt start. it took me forever to figure out my gas was tainted.

the initial cost of $30 or so is the worst..... walmart carries replacement cartridges for around $6

Re: fuel question

Normal. There isn't a fuel pump in the tank pushing fuel to the engine, so there is little pressure in the fuel line and the fuel pump on the engine just pulls what it needs to keep the carbs full.
