Engine Temperature issue?

I have a 4.3 with a 2barrel carb. I had the engine running with the
muffs today for 25 min. The water temperature never reached over
110 degrees is that normal?

I'm not sure if this is normal but the starboard side where the water comes out of the outdrive felt pretty warm, but the port side water was cold is this correct?

I have been having a ongoing problem after an hour of runtime on the water. The engine with not exceed 3500 rpms after an hour. The first hour or so it runs great!

Things i have already done is put new plugs, cap and rotor, and plug wires. Also i have changed the impeller. The choke is working correctly too. Checked my fuel vent too and it was good. Could the motor be vapor locking? or could the fuel pump be getting faulty when it gets warm? It is a 12volt fuel pump. Is there a ignition module or amplier on the motor?

Any suggestions would be great.

Drive Year? Drive Make? Drive Model?

110 degrees is too cold. Change your thermostat. Sounds like it's stuck open or opening too soon. There's no guarantee your gauge is reading correctly....but I'd still start with a new thermostat. Probably needs it anyway. They wear out.

Why does your engine have an electric fuel pump? Is that factory or did someone add it? When was the last time your fuel filter/water separator was changed?

At what RPM?

My 4.3 will not reach opperating temp on the hose if ony running at idle. Fast idle(arround 1000rpms) and the temp comes up.

It is 1992 4.3, alpha one gen2 outdrive
It come from the factory with a electric fuel pump that year and it has a mercury carb. not a rochester.

I will change the thermostat, can i get one from an auto parts store or do i need a specific marine thermostat?

Turn the engine off first ;)

The thermostat kit will have different seals and gaskets that you will not use. Just match the ones you removed, toss the others in the trash.
