I was looking under the cowl and saw 2 wire ends wrapped in electrical tape. I unwrapped the tape and saw a male and a female connector that were not connected. It seems this was only to insulate them from grounding out. One wire is brown with white stripe and the other is brown. Are these wires for connection to a guage, like a tachometer or temperature guage. The boat came with no gauges except a fuel gauge. Any help would be appreaciated.
Thanks,
Chiguy

Brown/white is for a trim gauge sender and it the wire you call brown could be tan it'd for a temp sender the only brown wire from the factory would be a trigger wire.

Thanks for the technical info Laddies. I, too, was born in America, live in America and served America in the unpopular war where 58,000+ of my brothers died. I thought I was in the Merc Outboards, Repair & Maintenance Forum. So what's your additional point?

That's part of the reason I served to protect the right of free speech, so I said it because I can and believe it to be true. If you feel different you also have that right. I would have answered you here why waste my time with the same question in a PM ?

I got it! You have a trailer tagged to all your responses whether they pertain to a person's question or not, especially the part about that's what the Forums are for. That's cool, free speech, whether it makes sense or not. I sent my reply to you in a PM because I thought you had leftover info in your reply to some question pertaining to buying a Nissan or something. Excuse me for questioning a Supreme Mariner, not recognizing that you get off on pontificating and wasting your time.
