I seen your diagram PT&T and thats the way I hooked it up but it powers one way but not the other way. i better start at the begining. The PT&T worked when I got it the man had wires everwhere. After fixing the leaks I removed some wires that the diagram didn't have. the motor wasdn't good so I had it rebuilt. I checked the motor to see if it was working and it is. But when I connect the wires to the junction box (where the silenoid is) the motor work one way. the wires are connected just like the diagram. I had to put a three way switch. 1 is up 2 is off 3 is down.

I posted this on another thread before I noticed that the last post was in Dec. 2008.

I found on another site form with a two solenoid system, can I change my single solenoid system to a two system?

Tinner, You might tell us what motor you have. It sounds like a 1977 or older Merc. If so, they have a single solenoid PTT unit.

Ok well your model dosen't jibe with my wiring diagram but more than likely the black will be ground. Take a meter and check continuity back to switch on the red and blue and then make sure the grounds are good on both ends. Its unlikely your motor will run in one direction and not in the other. If your getting power to both hot wires from switch than it has to be a faulty ground.

Wish I could be of more help, but I suspect the thing was jury rigged to pull power or whatever and you removed a key wire when your cleaned up previous mess.

Re: Tilt & trim problems

I had the motor worked on. New Brushes and cleaning. I thought the motor was bad but what every wire it was I don't know. But I did check the motor to see if was working. The guy that wored on said was Ok and he was right. He rebuilds smaal 12v motors. The wires are connected like the diagram on the cover of the box. I just wanted to know if a two seleniod would like the newer models. I'll give it a try. And many thanks for your help. I know there are alot of threads.
