ok so i took off my intake manifold and there is a golf ball size hole on the left side. So i need to replace the block. Its a 305 so i am assuming its a chevy. What is the difference between a 305 that goes int a boat and a 305 thot goes into a car? If nothing can i use the heads off of the bad 305? How hard is it to pull the bad one and replace it with a new one? Is it easy to reconnect to the outdrive? Please Help. Thanks for looking.

There is no such thing as a 305 block that is made for a boat. If you are looking to just replace your broken block then you need to take your block number to a block provider and get one of the same vintage. Beyond that, you need to use brass freeze plugs and marine head gaskets. That's all.

This of course assumes that you are going to re-use your marine camshaft and choose pistons that have a comparable compression ratio to what came in your boat motor. Everything else is just marine compatible bolt ons.

Auto machine shops are a good source of information on who has used blocks in your area, ie, motor salvage yards.
