saturday afternoon in the channel that runs through sicamous bc, we were watching these tourist, pilot their three story monster "rental" houseboat out into shuswap lake.
I do not know if they did not get an orientation or just didnt give a damn, but they drove the 35 foot tall boat under the cpr's 30 foot high, center pivot rail bridge, what was closed at the time!
and ripped off most of the stainless railing and the sat dish and probably the top of the water slide
I bet they are not getting back their damage deposit.
oh ya the rest of the weekend was interesting. droppped off buddy and picked up wife and brother, saw the house boat get ripped apart, motored up 25km to the south of the shuswap narrows were we had camp set up got there and there had to be about a dozen of the tunnel boats/hot rod, I think couger boats were having their annual get together (never say to the wife "look at the cougars in the cougars" or your gauranteed to get slapped!
storm hit around 5 pm, the waves were 2-4 foot and you should have seen the people scurry down the lake. this was definetaly a poster for good anchoring, as there were boats get their anchors ripped out and crashing on the beach, thank god we were bow into the wind and stern tied off and the anchor was bedded good (anchor davvit went under water a couple of times and thats usually 6 feet above the water line)
ended up pulling/pushing two of the boatsup on the beach
winds died down around 7.30
next morning water was glass and no damage to the beached boats
