Sore Joints....calcifications ??

This is my situation.
5 yrs back I find I can't use a screw gun. The force I apply to drive the screw into steel gives me a real bad and sharp pain in the muscle half way between shoulder and elbow.
Pain stops and disappears really quickly.
I tell the Dr, he takes a note, and says rest it.
Every 6 months when I go to get a check, I tell him it is getting worse, and 1 yr back I tell him it is really bothering me....take 1 daily ani-inflammatory...so I do.
3 mths back it's real bad, so he gets the shoulder x-rayed and I ask what to do....take 2 anti-inflammatory and try the physio.
She says she needs an ultra sound to help her.
I ask...why my shoulder....it's me $#@!^% arm that's sore... ".no dear, the pain is being transferred, I think".

I go to the Dr, get the referral, and before I can make an appointment for the results, I get a letter telling me to come in.

Dr asks....how long you had this....probably 5 yrs....he gives me the disbelieving look, and says..... go back and get a ultra sound guided injection.

I tell him the outfit he sends me too is $20 dearer than the opposition, plus they can't see me for 6 weeks, can you refer me to the opposition.....no comment.....so I go to make the appt....no luck....ring back in 6 weeks and make appt......so back to the opposition....no worries....straight in......(did the same with the 1st ultra sound).

(have learnt his Diagnostic outfit short of Drs.)

I tell you what, those deep injections are no fun.
Made me curl my toes up tight.

Right, my question....at last.....anyone else been down the same path as me.

Dr says something about calcifications. I can't be the only one on this board that has suffered from this condition, so would some of you blokes like to share your experiences, and solutions, and outcomes, with me please.

About the Dr.....well I am thinking.....I watch his daily routine while I wait......one snotty kid after the other, broken old bxggars like me, and grossly overweight people, treading a path into his room.....about one every 10 mins....so I am guessing his life is more miserable than mine.......but having said that, maybe I should look for a young enthusiastic Dr.
One who at least believes me when I say I got to brush my teeth with my right hand, and I got to buy a proper lefty guitar as I can't play the R upside down now cause it hurts like hull...... cause the left arm is so bad (I'm a lefty).

Sorry for the long story, but as I said, I can't be the only one like this.
As my optimistic mate says....if you ain't got it yet, you will get is soon.

Cheers
Phillip

i'm not a docotr either...unless you count witch doctor. i wonder about bone spur, or pinched nerve. My sister had a bone spur, described it a lot like that. I have a few pinched nerves...yeah , a lot of fun.

deep injections, like cortizone? yeah, they stink out loud. needle i swear hit bone. i was ready to hurt the doctor out of reflex.

You are not alone Phil. I'm lefty also. I get sharp intense pain from my shoulder to my wrist when I work with an overhead load, pulling or pushing. Went to the doctor first time in 22 years after falling into a vessel when attempting to swing over the rail and the pain caused me to lose my grip. X-rays showed shadows in my clavacle. A scan showed nodules of calcium in my clavacle were pinching on the nerve bundle that runs spine to clavacle and down the arm. Celebrex eased the pain but would reoccur. Only other option is live with it or submit to surgery and a month of immobility. Still waiting for a free month. Maybe next decade. If it gets real bad I'll be under the knife, but until then I'll live with the inconvenience.

If the steroid injection doesn't help, and it very well might, I'd be tempted to seek the opinion of a neurologist.

I had a problem a bit like that back in '00. I had a fall inside my house, sprained left wrist and bruised my shoulder.

For months anytime I tried to twist anything with my left (I am right handed) I got a sharp pain in the elbow. Intern in the ER said it was just a ligament problem, but 6 months later I dropped by the clinic where #2 daughter worked at the time (she is a PT) to take her to lunch. She asked me about my yelp when I turned the key in the car door lock, so I explained.

When we got back to the clinic she made me go to the Xray gal who took a couple of pix. The tip of my radius was not just broken, it was adrift.

The moral of this story is: get more opinions, diagnostic images or whatever is needed to find out exactly what is wrong. Then fix it.

Agree with JB, go see specialists and not just your regular doctor. Expect to get an ultrasound, x-ray and MRI. If not, keep looking until you do. Somewhere in the hunt a Dr. with specific knowledge will diagnose and resolve your issue.

I'm not putting down the family doctor, mine is great. But I had a really good one in Florida that missed the tear in my medial meniscus. He sent me for x-rays only and the proper diagnosis is done by an MRI. My Gastro neighbor diagnosed the problem and advised treatment options.

Your a Lefty, that's the problem. There R more righties then lefties, so that must mean that they do not work on enough lefties to under stand the problem. U should seek a left handed doctor.

Wow! I'm glad that I solved your problem.

I am dealing with getting treatment&diagnosus for T.O.S.
Thoracic Outlet Syndrome is what it is called.

Cannot hold my arms overhead without them going numb.
Arms, hands go numb at any time.
Also get cold easy.
Anything repetitive causes pain&numbness.
From the head to the finger is affected.

Been to the doc's many times with just a huh from them.

I just keep plugging away and hope to find the right doc who will listen.

Hope you find out what's going on.
