im looking for plug gap and the points gap. i have a 1987 thompson 18 ft with the 165 mercruiser. S/N is 0b647477. plus can anyone tell me what size this motor is?
. That engine does have some idiosyncrasies that other Mercruisers do not. Being a member of the "470 club" requires due diligence. Do a search here on "470" or "3.7" etc. and educate yourself, and don't get discouraged, they are not THAT bad, but proper maintenance is an absolute must. Have had mine for 18 years, been through it all (keeps me on my toes) and it still runs fine. If you have any questions, come on back. Good luck.
