Motor will not get my boat on plane. 3000 RPM under load. 125 PSI on all cylinders. Fuel pump check valve had a pin hole, I rebuilt the pump. Motor runs perfect other than the fact it will not achieve more than 3000 RPM. I have rebuilt carbs, (they were clean and clear). Could it be a coil? I can't detect a skip. Not hard to crank. Idles like a champ. Any ideas? How do I check the coil with a timing light? By the way it was running fine 2 weeks ago. It throttled down from 4500 RPM on the way back to the ramp. I thought the fuel filter had plugged up. I have changed the fuel to a portable tank to rule out bad fuel.
Thanks,
Keith
