How much money would you have to have

To have at least a 100 foot boat. Its has at least 3 floors to it and a helicopter on top of it. Man there was one parked out in our harbor tonight. That speaks nothing but money. I was just in aw of it. I thought i would take my 17 footer out there and race him for pink slips. Think he would go for it.

Keep in mind that it will cost approximately 20% of the value of a boat like that just to operate and maintain it every year.

You mean what bank or US auto maker you have to work for to use a boat like that? Nobody with money enough to own a boat like that actually owns the boat.. their cayman islands shell company owns it and they have 'perk usage'. If they bought it they would have to pay US taxes on it, and that just ain't gunna happen.

In all reason, the helo could be anywhere from $500K-3MM and a 100 footer in the $2MM-200MM range, depending on what it offers. Some have built-in submarine bays. No need to get boat envy.. it is just a hull and upholstery, just like yours. The helo.. okay, that would be nice.

I passed one the other day as they were off loading their fleet of 6 jet skis into the water with a crane from the top deck. Then I realized their tender boat was at least 10 feet longer than my boat. Parked on top by the jet skis.

One of the neatest setups I saw was a rear launch for the tender. Double doors opened and the 20' boat rolled down and into the water on a track. After the boat is launched, the track is retracted and the area is back to being a deck. Pretty cool.

Often thought it would be an interesting job working on one of those yachts. Sometimes I pick up the staff conversations on my marine radio. What state room needs cleaning, issues in the kitchen, etc. Rather enlightening.

Even if i had an obscene amount I wouldnt waste money on a boat that big. I would rent one for a week for kicks though.

I was trying to find a link to my boat manufacturer (Riviera Boats), and instead stumbled upon Riviera Yachts, and saw an ad link for a yacht, curiousity got the best of me, and I clicked on it:

It holds 11,000 gallons of diesel, at dock prices, say 3.50/gal, thats 38 grand just to fill it up... ONCE!

Back in 1999, I pulled up beside a "slightly smaller" yacht in Key West (I was in my wellcraft 215 Eclipse BR), and had broken down... while waiting for sea tow (3 hours), the guy was pumping diesel the entire time... I asked him how much he was getting, and he said a "top off" of 4000 gallons... LMAO

That much fuel cost 2x more than I paid for my entire boat...

I couldn't ever imagine having enough money to own and operate a vessel like that!

The hospital I used to work at build a 5 stories add on wing that houses all cardiac services and it is huge. Their budget was 82 mil, that's for everything. Not too long before I saw the dollar figure I watched a show about luxurious yatchs. They said when you get into the 100ft and above class yatch. The good estimate is 1 mil/ft. This building was cheaper then one of those "cheaper" yatchs and I can fit a bunch of them in it.
