I am a proud owner of a 1979 Kenner Ski Barge. There is a crack in the fiberglass on transom. Not sure of the dificulty in fixing the problem.

I own a late 60's Ski Barge 16. I am currently restoring it. It has the original Johnson Electromatic 40.

I remember those. Never had one though. Neighbor had one at Lake Sinclair in central GA. Look at the restoration threads they can help you with that transom repair.

Re: any ski barge owners?

Let's Just say I "had" the original Johnson Electromatic 40. I took the plunge and purchased a Nissan Marine 2 stroke 40. Should be much more efficient and more dependable. I will be using the boat in and around Mobile Bay (Bon Secour to be precise) and didn't want to have to be towed 20 miles back to the fishing camp! Boat is solid and, after registering her, I find she is a 1965 model. Hull is solid and the old tiller cable steering is also being replaced with Teleflex rotary. Nissan comes with TT (with gauge) and a tach. Coming along nicely. I am taking pics as I go with upgrades. Should be a useful boat for my purpose. Crabbing, redfish, specks and flounder. She will run shallow water and has tons of deck space.

That is a pic from when I first pulled her from the boneyard but it gives an idea of what she is. The hull is comprised of full flotation too, very similar to Whaler design. (Although most of those stuffed shirts would prefer to differ!) Something to the tune of "Hmph!" Besides, mine is wider than a Whaler anyway. Bill Kenner (Knoxville, AR) knew what he was doing when he invented the modern day "bay boat". Not sure if this is going out to anyone but enjoy the forum and thanks for the welcome.

upload your pics to a photo hosting site like photobucket.com and link to then from here. iboats file size restrictions are too small to be useful unfortunately.

Ya my brother has a 72 Ski Barge. I'm from Daphne, I can't believe you are from the Bon Secour area. We use it mostly in Weeks bay, little lagoon, and in Mobile bay on calm days. Great to see another one in the area.
