Did that with a Boston Whaler Outrage 18.

In attempt to steal the engine (Yammy 130) thieves cut all connections, took out the bolts and dropped the engine in the canal. They also broke one of the lift cables so that she was bow down in the salt for several months.

Lots of barnacles inside and out. Lost for'd hatch. Harness and steering cable cut. No trailer.

Carbs and starter were trash. Engine was restored to running condition and remounted. Harness was spliced. New steering cable.

Removed barnacles and made new mahogany for'd hatch.

Should have kept that one. She was a jewel.

I haven't done it but I looked into buying a salvage boat...one thing to consider is the title. Some titles I came across classified boats as salvage and I don't know if that can be changed after repairs? Also, once it's been classified as salvage, will that continue to follow the boat's history even if you do get it changed? You may have a hard time getting any value out if it if you can't.
