I have a 94 maxum with a 6 cyl mercruiser. I think weeds clogged the intake and the engine overheated. We continued to the dock under 2500 rpm. The next outing 2 days later I checked the oil and noticed water /oil milk up the dipstick. I took it in for service and they say I need a new engine because water got into the bearings. The engine was installed in May as a reman engine. Please give me some advice so I don't have to pay another $3500 for this boat

Didn't you check anything after the overheat to see why it overheated? or if anything was damaged, before taking it out again?????

How hot did it get?

Please give me some advice

Don't keep running an overheated engine.

Need to pressure check the cooling system. If it's freshwater cooled, it'll be easier. Anything from a cracked head to a blown headgasket....who knows. Expensive lesson. Sorry to hear it happened. As mentioned....do not continue to run an overheated engine. Bad news is sure to follow.
