Tornado's all around me - all good now

Crazy weather here today. Had no less than 3 confirmed tornado's touch down withing 25 miles of me. Tornado's are quite rare here and we had three with an hour today. Still waiting for the news to see extent of damage and injuries.

Skies went from black to green to red then had a beautiful rainbow to finish off the evening. Crazy looking clouds and colors. Had all the neighbors out on the street looking at the sky.

Green is from ice (hail) in the cloud, usually indicates powerful updraft, which is one of the components of a tornado

We had a few here on Wednesday, one about 30m south of me, one about 10m East of me.

Might get a little work repairing telephone infrastructure at one of them.

I just heard one of them touched down in Durham, north of Guelph. Hope no one is injured. I'll wait for the 11 o'clock news.

I am in Ohio, and last night there were a few 30 miles southwest of me and then today there were some 30 miles north of me.

Pretty amazing after watching the news reports. Five confirmed tornado's spread over south central Ontario. In the worst of them there were 600+ homes and buildings damaged, over 200 completely destroyed and yet nobody was killed.

In another location there were 200+ people attending an equestrian event when the tornado hit the grounds directly. Extensive damage yet no persons or animals were killed

Sadly though an 11 year old was killed in one of the other touchdowns. There really is no effective means of warning people on a mass scale. If you don't happen to be watching tv or listening to the radio you would have no idea what was coming your way. The last destructive tornado around here was back in 1985 so we are not as prepared here maybe as some places more prone to these storms. Pretty scary stuff.
