Not to take away from your cool hot dog story which sounds like a neat science project but:
We throw a Memorial Day party for friends and family that goes for a couple days. There is a lot of grilling and meat to feed all those people! (4 grills, 2 days and a couple assistants doing prep work). One of my guests decided to help by putting one cooler of meat around the backside of a deck, under the deck in the shade under a blanket. Found it much, much later. Like a couple weeks later while looking for my favorite cooler.
The raccoons had a feast that night and my yard was littered with half eaten chicken and green steaks! They didn't even want it all!
Good news was that my wife is excellent at getting rid of stains and smells in things and mixed up a batch of bleach and some magic , left it sit for a week and voila, no smell!
