Carbon buildup in Evinrude 225 Phic

while heading out to Catalina still in the Long Beach harbor my "out of oil light" comes on. I come to find out it is carbon buildup. Any suggestions on how to treat this issue and also on how to prevent it.

OK, how do you know it is carbon build up? do you have oil in the tank?

At first i really didn't realize it was "no oil" light and alarm going off. I just assumed it was "low oil" but when i checked it was pretty much filled. When this happens the motor goes into a low rpm mode. I restarted the motor and headed out with no problems but of course an un easy feeling through out the day. I ended up taking her in and this is what the mechanic told me. I was hoping to learn how to treat this myself and also how to prevent it.

no such thing as a high carbon alarm.

low oil alarm is a beep every 30 seconds. beep......................beep...................

no oil alarm is a beep every 1/2 second or so.beep,beep,beep

overheat and fuel restriction alarm is a constant beep.beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep
