I have a 99 tige v drive with the 5.7L. The warning system keeps going off. The engine was at operating temp, and we were floating, when I started it to move, the alarm went off for no apparent reason. Temp was at 170, oil pressure was at 40 psi. I have the manual and it does not list the reasons for the alarm to go off. I checked the codes and there are none, but when I put it on the trailer it had no power, it went lean and backfired... I am wondering if u have any suggestions, do i need to look at sensor data or what. Any info would be useful, thanks. Also I started it on the trailer after being totally cold and it alarmed as soon as it started.

Re: Mercruiser warning system

There is no gear oil resevior with the v-drive.

Lack of power, backfiring and audio alarm, I am assuming this is computer generated alarm and not the stand alone system?????

How old are your fuel filters?
When ws the last COMPLETE tune up?

I have not changed the fuel filter, but like i said it was from one moment to the next.. the gear oil and trans oil are where they should be. What things can cause the alarm? i thought maybe it was triggered by the computer cause of the lack of power, maybe in limp mode...Ar far as plugs, i replaced them a year ago when i had the heads off.

Schooner - different system, different issue, need to start a different thread.

Anything other than one issue = one thread, gets real confusing on a technical forum.

CSG - I don't have enough knowledge of the EFI systems to be of much help, but others on here do, hopefully they will be along soon.

Re: Mercruiser warning system

Is your engine actually an EFI engine or carbed?
IF EFI, is it TBI or MPI....... Better yet, got a Merc SN of your engine?
