My old bimini top was 23 years old. So it was well worn out. I made a new top out of sunbrella plus. It is really tight when in stalled. You could almost use it for a drum.Should it be that tight?

It should be fine. The fabric will stretch a little over time.
I think they look better pulled tight too.

Yeah it'll be fine. I used to have a boat with a really tight Sunbrella cockpit cover, and if I left it off the boat for a week it was too tight to snap it on.
I discovered that wetting it down in direct sunlight would relax the fabric enough to allow the snaps to work.

When ever I get a new top they are usally to lose so I leave it up at home in the sun and it tightens up pretty tight. You just did the opposit they strech or shrink in the sun..... P.S. you made your own cool I just made new straps blue to match my bimini first sew job it looks awful but holds excellent. I have more straps to practice on will resew when I can sew strighter.:)
