97 searay 175 3.0 mercruiser alpha one

Boat has been laid up all summer, still winterized from last fall actually. I have my drive as far down as possible without hitting the skeg. I noticed in the last week or so a small puddle of gear lube under my drive. while looking at it today I noticed a small 1/4" or smaller tube that runs behind my drive and fastens onto where my lower unit attaches. I noticed alot of fluid around that plate and the hose is completely seperated from the plate. Unfortunatly its not a kind place for big head and bigger fingers and am having trouble seeing how that attaches..Any ideas?

Pics are from a cell phone so sorry not that clear, but it looks like the black hose attaches to the white thing behind that nut in the picture just not sure how?

It is just a small twist lock fitting. But that is not your leek. That hose goes to your speedometer which is nothing but water and/or air pressure. I would suspect something above the hose is leaking down onto it.
I have no idea what it's coming from, but I would be raising the drive and getting under there and looking before I ran it.

with trying to get my big head looking up in the direction its very hard to see but it appears that the gear fluid is running down the tube from up top,that tube is for the speedo any ideas how gear fluid would run down the outside of that tube? Any ideas to point me in the right direction?

Ayuh,... My guess is there's a leak Above the speedo tube, dripping down onto it....
You might want to Pull the drive,+ have a Look around....
