What are my options? Is there a source for replacement tanks?

Yes you should be able to order one from your Merc dealer. Unfortunately they have discontinued all the older trim pumps for this new design. Problem is they do crack. This is a common problem. It is fairly easy to replace the tank.

Mercury Parts Bulletin 2001-4
Our supplier has notified us that they can no longer supply the old reservoir P/N 18525A 1, which is a bottom mount style reservoir. This reservoir was mounted to the adapter by a single threaded screw that is inserted up through the bottom of the reservoir.
The new power trim pumps use a top mount style reservoir. The reservoir is mounted by using the four ears located on the pump adapter. The four screws are threaded down into the top part of the reservoir. The newer style reservoir will provide a tighter mount between the adapter and reservoir.
The old style bottom mount reservoir P/N 18525A 1 will supercede to the top mount reservoir P/N 883166A 2. This new style top mount reservoir will fit power trim pumps that were manufactured after 1991. These pumps have the new style adapters.
If the pump adapter does not have the four mounting ears, Reservoir Update Kit P/N 883169A 1 will need to be ordered. This kit will include the new style adapter and the top mount reservoir.

Do I need the update kit P/N 883169A 1? It's $400!!!

What, no duct tape on the boat? That'll fix'r right up:D

I would go with the new original and use nylon washers when re-installing to help reduce vibration and shock.

Nylon washers? Where? There's one screw up through the bottom of the tank.
