Max weight capacity rating for trailer

Does the typical maximum rating have some cushion bulit-in or is it a "don't go even 5 ounces over?" number.

I have an opportunity to buy a small boat trailer rated at 600 pounds that would be used only on rare occasions for actually moving the boat....and less than 30 miles.....and for winter storage.
Not sure exactly what the weight of the whole rig is but for sure it is more than 500#, less than 700.

Would anyone be concerned?

Don't fudge- it's dangerous for you and everyone else on the road. Remember too that the "maximum capacity" of the trailer may include the weight of the trailer itself. Make sure you understand what you're looking at.

yup
its going to be costly if you get into an accident and your insurance becomes void due to to excess weight.
weight your trailer with boat if your not sure, compare to trailer weight empty.
What does the mfg spec out the gvw at? See the tag or stamp on front of reach
