And my wife told me after about 5 years that I was buying her a 10 year ring for her tenth.

It is a very nice ring. Just happy I didn't have to pick it out.

My wife picked out her engagement ring, I felt like a million bucks when she liked it............

But on the question, I would not get her anything, she should just be happy to have you and you to have her. That probably wont go over too good in your household but in mine we just don't exchange gifts.

Trust me on this, sometimes the subtle hints they (wives) drop are meaningless. My fiancee was complaining about how the vacuum is no good, well hey, I find one on sale for Christmas, sweet, two birds with one stone! Or so I thought. . .:redface: I mainly just bought it as a gag gift, and after three hours of dead silence and the infamous "evil eye" I broke out the real gift: a gold and diamond bracelet.

Rule of thumb: DO NOT GET ANYTHING THAT CAN BE RELATED TO TYPICAL HOUSEHOLD DUTIES!! Otherwise there might not be an 11 year anniversary.

Something personal for her. Does not have to cost a fortune, just something with meaning. She may have hinted recently. Think back !!!

Well, don't mess it up. After 10 years, she figures you're pretty well trained and you need to show it by getting the right gift, whatever the heck THAT is. If you don't, the next 10 years will be harsh.

I'm coming up on 10yrs. next summer as well. The wife wants some diamond earrings, which I'll probably get. I hate spending money on something I think has no value whatsoever. Why couldn't she want a shotgun or fishing rod/reel or boat motor? I actually LIKE shopping for those! Looks like I'm going to have to go for the earrings, though. I think HOW you give 'em is as important to the womenfolk as the gift.

Thanks for that post, LF ... gave me a great idea for my wife (10th in April). She was admiring a beautiful saphire and diamond necklace that matched the tennis bracelet and earings that I had given her over the last few years ... tried to get it for her when she was admiring it, but she didn't want to spend the money. Hmmm, and it is in a little jewelry store on the island of Kauai, so I guess we will have to go back there to get it .... sounds like a plan!

First off congratulations for making it 10 years. Every person in our wedding party (but us) 13 years ago has been married and divorced, some multiple times. I don't know if you have kids but an all inclusive spa day is a big hit. A day away from it all. If that is a no go, go with a Dyson.

For the last 5 years our boating club takes a cruise to St. Augustine about the time of our anniversary in Oct. Since this is OUR favorite cruise, we sort of give it to each other. we also go a day earlier. This way She hits the shops on St. Georges St., on Friday and Sat mornings, and we can do the club activities on Sat afternoon. We also hit our two favorite restaurants there (Harry's and O.C. Whites). So, with the restaurants and lunch couters, we do no cooking or dishwashing. This October it will be 40 yrs.

If you have been married for 10 years, why don't you take a cruise in your boat or go on a cruise ship? Just you 2. No kids dogs, or other drag a longs. ( We did the cruise 5 years ago. I liked it, although someone else was Captain..)

What no Scarlet O'Harah's or Florida Cracker?
