Darned carpet was soaked all weekend. The new sections of ply that were glassed over in the recessed deck and bilge cover stayed nice and dry as the water just ran off into the bilge. The carpet held the water and got stinky, plus probably is helping let it work its way into any cracks, etc. in the deck.
So, its coming out, even if I don't get to glass the deck until spring.
I always wanted to put down Deco Dot vinyl decking, but after taking a hard look at the deck, seat bases, recessed deck area, I realized there are lots of corners and seams needed to install vinyl. Might just gel coat the whole thing. It sure would be easier to roll on gel coat than have to cut, fit and trim the vinyl to make it look good and not worry about peeling up. Will have to do a price comparison, if they are comparable, gel coat may just win out.
Anyway, the carpets days are numbered.
