You all know I'm rebuilding the little V-135 I think. I'm looking at pistons and my first choice was Wiseco but now I've heard they may not be the best choice. As I look around on the Net all I seem to find are Sierra and Mallory. Can anyone give me a little insight on Sierra's. I know Sierra doesn't make them but are they worth a try or should I steer clear. Mallory scares me as well because I have a funny feeling that's what Sierra is selling.

Any help would be appreciated. I'll be going .015 over at least. I'll know tomorrow if I have to go to .030.

The general concern with the Wiseco is they tend to expand more than the other pistons, requiring an additional .001 of bore. I will be useing Persan pistons, .030 in my inline 1500 rebuild.

Do you have a line on where I can check them out?

I've only rebuilt a couple outboard engines and used wiesco I had no problems, ran the snot out of both of them. I used the forged pistons one set in 225 omc and one in a Yamaha pro 50.

Thanks I've talked to folks here about Wiseco's and a couple of rebuild shops and they seem a little offish when I mention forged pistons. The engine is a early V-6 and the cooling system is not all that great. I have the clearance to run the Wiseco's but am thinking that maybe this engine would last longer with a cast piston that's less prone to swell. Although, the last ones were cast and all but one is junk now. See why I'm having a tough time with this decision.
