Re: oar size
I have never in my life seen a 6" wide row boat, is it a drift boat?. Off the shelf featherheads usually run 7' max. Any longer and you probably have to go to Sawyers or Carlisles. Sawyers are great wood oars with carbon fiber tips. I prefer them for rafting as they have some heft, feather easy and can really move you well.
Can you see the water line on the boat? If so get a helper and a piece of rope. Hold the rope in you hands right in front of your breasts just like oaring. Have a friend pull the rope out and down at the same angle of the oar until it intersects the water line on the boat. Take that measurement and add it to the blade size you choose.
Easier way if it is on water is pull the rope down to water line and measure.
In the end no one can tell you the right size oar so you may have to try a few depending on how you row. Everyone id so different in size and rowing style that 10 different people will have anywhere from 8' to 10' oars and have the oar locks in different places.
Sorry for being long winded, rafting is my true passion and I get a little carried away sometimes.
