Additional Water Temp Gauge for V.P. 5.0

I'd like to add an additional water temperature guage (with alarm) to my 1999 Volvo-Penta 5.0 GI PWTR. Preferably on the outflow side, after the water has made its way through the engine.

Has anyone done this or have suggestions on sender unit and installation/location?

As common and serious as overheating seems to be, i'm surprised this isn't standard.

Thanks

One thing:
A water temp gauge reads just that, Water Temp.
If there is some sort of blockage, and the sender is not in water then it wont work at all.

Sure, but in the right spot, I?d think overheating due to restricted flow (worn impeller, bad water pump, or debris) would be observed before it got hot enough to damage the engine.

The stock temperature sender seems to lag behind the real engine temperature due to its external position, especially when water flow is restricted.
I was thinking about positioning the sensor on the block or exhaust manifold.
