Ran up to a local lake tonight...days like this can't be wasted. We did our usual routine...I backed down the ramp...hopped out...she tries starting...runs a couple of seconds and dies. I figured it would start so I pull the trailer out and park. Come back...still dead. Turns over but won't catch. Hmmm...never did this before.

I opened the engine bay and pulled off the arrester thinking it must be flooded. I smell no gas. In the meantime things are starting to get pretty busy with people wanting to retrieve. I clogging up a lane so I figure I've got to get out of their way. Started walking her around to the other side of the dock. About halfway around somebody just pulls in. Now I can't get to the dropoff side and I don't want to go back to the ramp side. Fortunately I explained my predicament and they moved forward so I could tie off and try again. Turns out a ground wire came off the riser. I was just getting ready to get the trailer when I saw it. Reconnected and it fired right up. Had me sweating there for awhile. I could feel the scowls of the folks wanting to retrieve.

IMO people that get cranky because someone else is having a problem are just a buch of a**holes.
Its not like you were being a jerk and sitting there for no reason, you had a legitament issue and if they cant give a little then to H**l with them.
But this is me...

With my old IO I got into the habit of putting the muffs on in my driveway and letting the boat idle while I got everything else ready. That way I knew everything would be tip top coming off the ramp. Mainly I did it in case the ramp was busy, I could drive off the trailer and get out of the way quickly without stalling at a bad time.

Glad you got it sorted out!

I was doing that too but she never had a starting issue all season so I let that part slide. My normal routine was to make sure she was running before I released her from the trailer.

same hear check all your fluids, outdrive oil needs checked everytime and run on muffs, charge battery , makes for a lot less tension at ramp. if my boat sits for a few days it takes a little cranking to start so that prerun gets rid of that at ramp.
