My neighbors Mom died 2 days ago . She was 87 and I have only met her once. I knew she met her husband during WW11 and thats about all untill I read about her death in the local paper, This woman had been an army nurse. She worked in a MASH unit for many months in Italy and later sent to Japan. I cant imagine the horrible carnage she saw because army Mash nurses and doctors faced things never seen or been seen since, To me this woman is a true war hero and I bet only a few are left ...Funeral is tommorow and I will be there out of respect for what she did as much as because its a neighbors Mom.

All nurses are heroes in my book but military nurses who served in front-line units were at the front of women's contribution to "the war effort".

May she rest in honored peace.

My uncle went down on the USS Buck off the coast of Solerno Italy. His name is on a plaque on the USS Massachusetts at Battle ship Cove Fall River. I've been researching his career for a while now, not having any luck finding survivors and people connected with the rescue of the survivors though. Mddubya, glad to hear your dad is still hanging in there.
