I have read several negative threads on this motor, I wish I had read them before I bought the motor, but I have run this O/B for three trouble free years. I was cruising at 3200 when it just died. No engine light, code, nothing. I have troubleshot this problem down to the ignition Module, p/n 586308 or 586381, one supersedes the other. Is there somewhere to send this module off for repair, or do I have to replace it? If so, is it OK to buy a used one or am I better off paying the big bucks and buying new?

Asssuming that is the failure, Sierra and Mallory probably have aftermarket powerpacks at somewhat less cost than OEM. Used is a crapshoot.

You're right ... it's a first year Ficht and it uses an EMM, not a powerpack. DFI is the right place to go.

I notice there is no F in his model number, is it still a ficht?

Eh, i looked up his model number and it shows an EMM, not a power pack. So barring some other EFI technology of the time that i'm not familiar with, it's a FICHT. Regardless, it's not an easily replaceable powerpack. It'll either need repair or an expensive replacement.
