Choke adjustment?

I recently rebuilt my carb (see http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=350445) and everything works really well! I have one nagging minor problem, however. When I first start the motor with the throttle/shifter in neutral, it stutters & sputters (though it continues to run). Once I gun the throttle once it settles down into a smooth & correct idle. Is this something choke related? I set the choke to the large index mark which is where it was originally, but maybe it needs to be adjusted after 30 yrs? The problem manifests itself most after sitting for a bit or after first (cold) start.

Re: Choke adjustment?

Your choke is actually working the way it's designed, It is just adjusted a bit too rich. rotate it towards the lean a notch.

set it open just a bit ,it needs some air the manual sets them closed to much.plus when first started let it run for a couple of minutes and let it idle before shutting down.
