trying to find out what year the motor is?

trying to find out what year this motor is. it is a mecury kiekhaefer 500 thunderbolt 50hp four and the only number i can find is 3482293 and that was on the bracket that mounts the motor to the boat and cant find a site that would tell me if this is the right number and what year the motor is not sure how many numbers are in the vin any help would be great thanks

thanks alot i figured out it was a 1973 and now i can start to get some new seals and things replaced this winter so that it will be ready for the water next summer runs good now but leaks some oil and seems to load up after running and gets shut off then started does not want to get up and go so maybe some good carb cleaning and rebuild hopefully will fix the problem thanks again
