Hey everyone, i am new to this site as well as boating. i recently picked up a larson 17' bowrider inboard outboard. The guy i bough *** from bought it to take the motor out of it an dput it in his other boat. He said nothing was wrong with this boat except a soft spot in the floor. SOmebody told me somthings about worrying about stringers? what are these like the frame? And what do i have for motor options and where should i start? any other advice is greatly appreciated thank you.

Eather find a doner boat like the PO did, and get ready for alot of work, or sell it and get one thats complete.
If he took the whole engine and drive assembly out, then there is alot of things to get and install.

I'd seriously start looking for one that you can rob the parts from.

Welcome to iboats.

Basicly, stringers are beams that run the length of the boat under the deck (floor) that supports the hull. 9 times out of 10, a soft spot in the deck usually means a deck, stringer and transom repair, but not always. I'd recommend that you do a search on "stringer", "transom", "deck" & "core test" and read some threads. There is a lot of good info.
