Putting my merc 470 back together. I cant find a fuel pump gasket for it. Dealer said it is discontinued and I havent had any luck online either. Guess I need to make one? what is the best material to use for this gasket?

Re: Fuel Pump Gasket??

I'd make it out of a thick paper composite gasket material with a bit of crush to it, not a hard material. Try to get it in flat sheet from, not rolled up, real PITA trying to make a gasket from something curled up. If the mounting surfaces on the block are a sharp machine surface, you can easily make the gasket by tapping through the gasket material at the edges with a ball peen hammer

Not 100% positive ,but I think a gasket for a GM motor fits.

If you take the pump to napa they will probably match it up for you.
