Just cut out my new transom now what?

I just cut out two pieces of 3/4 for my new transom and I plan on using PL to bond them together but do I cover them both in resin first or glue them together and then cover in resin? I plan on countersinking 1" brass wood screws after the pl to help hold the two pieces together and then putting the resin over that, sound good? Opinions welcome, oh yea im doing this now too

I'm a newbie at this but I didn't use pl on mine, I might have done it wrong but I wet the peices laid a layer of 1708, and laminated them together. I used AW screws to hold them while it cured. afterwards I pulled the screws and filled the holes, this way I don't hit them when I'm drilling drains, motor bolt holes etc. Hopfully one of the pro's at this will lend a hand and avise which way is best for you

I would hold off resin coating until you a ready to install the transom. I used PL to glue my transom together then removed the screws. The screws really dont matter once the PL cures. It wont hurt to leave them in just make sure you fill the countersinks so that the fiberglass wont bridge the holes and cause a void. I used a small notched trowel to spread the PL to help insure that there would be no voids between the transom halves. I then used plenty of screws to pull the halves together squeezing out the glue around the edges. It is also a good call to keep the screws out of areas you know you are going to have to drill in to later if you decide to leave them in. The PL will bond better to bare wood than wood coated with resin.

Not trying to hijack but drewpster did I do it wrong I used Coosa board insted of ply?

I marked out where all my holes went and then placed screws accordingly so I wouldnt have to take them out. I did use weather resistant coated screws tho, then filled the countersinks and then glassed it over.

Well it worked perfectly and I plan on leaving the screws in and filling in the countersinks. thanks for the quick responses
