Re: Flat Foot

Re: Flat Foot

Welcome to iboats. Tell us more about your project.

You are on the right track. Sometimes it takes a bit of persuasion with a hammer and a block of wood.

It is not uncommon that boat builders slap some resin between the pieces and even use fiberglass tabs during assembly. I will move this to the Restortatioin section and you will get more answers

Consider using a thread title that makes sense to the iboats members!

Re: Flat Foot

Good title change :) You need to be creative it the cap removal. Some people her have used wood blocks, wood wedges, sometimes it requires a utility knife to score and slice through tabs of fiberglass. The key is to be persistent.

Have you read through the "big thread" http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=234392 that has been posted by Oops..... full of great information on fiberglass work. We even have a member doing a 32 ft Donzi who faced the same problem.

Not sure what all you have done but I used a wooden wedge and went around the perimeter of the boat. Also the transom may be glassed to the cap like mine was. Also I had six strips of fiberglass attaching the cap to the hull on the inside of the boat, under the cap. Hope this helps.
