Just bought a new Duracraft Aluminum Jon Boat w/ Mercury 90 2-stroke. On the shakedown cruise noticed...at speed...very difficult to turn left but easy to turn right. At slow speeds either direction is fine. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Re: Steering Issue

That is caused by the torque of the motor on the right handed prop. There should be a zinc anode above and behind the prop. it looks like a small fin. loosen the bolt that holds it and turn it CCW to minimize the torque effect.

Re: Steering Issue

I had the same issue..( actually cant remember which was which) but it was hard to turn one way and easy the other way.

I know about the torque tab and it only adjust ONE WAY!! i set it all the way and the torque is still there although lessened.

I noticed on that tab... that there are two sets of number, but on the motor there is only one slash for the zero setting...

why is there another set of slashes with numbers on the tab and it isnt close it is on the other side of the tab!!
