my Yamaha 2001 , 115hp, two stroke has a fuel filter next to the starter, and I sow that the gas gets only to the center of the cup wish is at the very bottom of the filter inside the cup, I have had problems..that the motor after been running for a minute or two in the water under load will shut off, last time my wife had to be priming the bulb in order to go back to the ramp, ..I sought was the fuel pump, and replaced, cleaned the carbs, replaced the fuel lines , the bulb , and the water separator and inspected the connections at the fuel tank and the pick up tube screen, the gas seemed to me fine , smell was ok...the vent hose is OK same like the vent..any sugestion...thanks

Try running it again and look for a few things: If you still pump the bulb does it run better, does the bulb have gas in it, is the bulb collapsed, soft or hard and while pumping are there any gas leaks? Good luck.

Like said above if you can keep it running by squeezing the primer bulb then it sounds like your fuel pump is faulty.

Check fuel system on both sides of pump with a fuel pressure/ vacuum guage. it will tell you if there is a restriction and if the pressure is good. Use a piece of clear tubing and it will show if you are sucking air from somewhere.

Re: Fuel Filter question, no getting enough gas

ok I have it running on my backyard and like I say it runs fine if not under load, it idles fine , just notice to much smoke under accelerations, just opening and closing the throttle by hands, maybe no the right way to test it ..but still the fuel filter next to the starter is low ..don't know if that's OK or not...the fuel pump is new ,Yamaha original, the bulb is no hard , but is not collapsed, seems to have gas inside and as soon I squeeze it, it pump gas... will take to the water today and recheck , let you know later.., by the way whish should be the fuel pression , if checked after the fuel pump..thanks

Re: Fuel Filter question, no getting enough gas

hi, after inspecting every thing and rechecking every thing in my fuel system find that the problem was the water separator, the clear hose is a good way to find a fuel problem , specially if socking air...I put the clear hose 1..close to the tank connected to the pick up tube and find no bobbles, 2...connected the clear hose before the fuel pump and same thing find no bobbles bud can see the fuel been socked by the pump...is a good way to know if the pump is socking the fuel...after that took the boat to the water and this Yamaha runs like a champ..a lot of power...
this is the video I took in the water testing the boat I;m going to sell the boat so if any of you is interested let me know...
