I am replacing a VRO fuel pump with a non VRO fuel pump. The VRO pump has 4 wires and most of the replacements I have seen have only two wire. Does anyone know what the other 2 wires are for and how I can rig it up? Or does someone sell a direct 4 wire electric non VRO fuel pump for a 1995 200HP Johnson? Thanks

You really don't need ANY wires for a VRO fuel pump. Remember, when doing the VRO conversion, you simply unplug the electrical harness, and plug the oil inlet to the pump. So, no wiring required.

Now, what colors are the wires on the new pump? Purple will be switched +12 volts, tans will be warning horns, black will be grounds....

The VRO pump is completely mechanically operated with pressure pulses from #6 cylinder, and the electricals are for sensing faults.

Thanks.
Is it possible to change it to an electric pump or do I need to purchase a non VRO mechanical pump?

Like I said...they are ALL mechanical...run off pressure pulses from #6.
Using an electrical external pump is dangerous.
But guys do it. Consider this...engine fuel line cracks, engine is stalled, but key is on, and electrical fuel pump is running, blowing fuel out the cracked line. One spark, blewie.

My guess is the colors of the two wires on the new pump are tan and black. If so, sensor wires.

No electrical connection required for VRO to operate, just no sensors available for warning.

I think the non-oil mixing pump replacement is 5007422. Let me know what the wire colors are that are in the plug on that part number. Thanls.

OOPS...made a mistake....there is a grey wire from the reg/rect. That is an input to the VRO oil side to signal RPMs to the pump, allowing for the variable rate oiling function. If you are doing away with VRO and pre-mixing...it is a non-important wire.
