i have a 2002, 200 hp hpdi yamaha, the oil alarm went off and the engine slowed to 200 rpm's i checked the engne oil resivoir and it was very low. before this hapend the alarm went off and the boat oil resivoir was very low and i added 4 gallond of oil. now the oil is not transferring to the resivoir on the engine. when i through the emegency switch on the oil does transfer from the boat tank to the engine tank. i have checked the wires from the engine oil sencer to the ecm to the boat oil tank all seam to be good i have battery voltage to the oil pump and back out to the yellow wire inside the engine cover. what turnes the oil pump on besides the oil sencer in the oil resivoir on the engine? i have switched the sencer with a none good one the ecu as well. thanks

Re: 200 hpdi oil system

The float in the remote tank may have stuck in the low oil position when the alarm went off, unless it rises oil will not be pumped to the main engine tank. When it reachs this level it ceases to pump but oil can be pumped using the manual switch.

you have the middle bar flashing only with the engine running. This indicates your main engine tank is full and the remote is empty.Since you filled the remote it could be a problem with the sender.

You may want to review Yamaha 2001 150hp oil alarm There is a good explanation by Rodbolt how the alarm system functions
