1987 Merc 4.3 V6, Exhaust riser drain

The manual indicates to drain the exhaust manifold using the petcock at the back of the manifold on the bottom. I see another brass plug in the bottom of the riser as shown in the photo. Does this need to be opened to fully drain the exhaust for winter?

remove it after you drain the manifold just to check for trapped water, it should all drain out thru the manifold.

Ayuh,... Even though it Should drain alright,... I'd pull 'em to be Sure...
If the ports between the 2 are getting Crudded up, it Could be a Problem...

Those plugs are in there tight so I poured anti-freeze into both hoses (top and bottom) until some came out the exhaust so that should take care of any remaining water, right?
