this is for outboards like my merc 65hp thunderbolt that has been garaged and not in use for a few years, but should run. with a gas/oil mixture like mine what should i expect going to a mechanic and hearing the worse case senario because of the bad fuel in the sytem for so long

Bad fuel/old fuel or even neglect will all lead you down the same exact path...... removal and rebuild the carbs and maybe fuel pump. Probably the most common problem we see here on iboats.

mike, nh..hey thanks alot for the reply, how long do i have to get this 70/71 merc 65hp 650 thunderbolt ignition winterized and would should i expect for cost on this kind of repair. i have alot to learn bob... thanks again
